Another Quiz For You!

Posted by Helen Disler | Composting, Farm Management, Farming Secrets Club, Introduction, Microbes, Products, Soil Health, Systems | Tuesday 28 October 2008 5:19 am

Can you tell which paddock has had an application of  compost tea??

You don’t need to be Einstein to know the answer!

Which Paddock has had an application of Compost Tea?

The amazing and almost instant impact of compost tea can be seen
from these photos of adjoining paddocks at Geurie, taken recently.
One paddock was treated with an application of compost tea and
received a spring feed. Both paddocks then were fortunate enough
to get 30mm of rain. Three days after the compost tea application
(and immediately after the rain) these photos were taken. No
prizes for picking which paddock was treated.

What does Farming Secrets Have to do with Soil Food Web?

Posted by Helen Disler | Farm Management, Farming Secrets Club, Introduction, Microbes, Products, Systems | Monday 20 October 2008 4:09 am

Since the establishment of the Australian laboratory in 2001, the Soil Foodweb Institute (SFI) has been working with growers Australia-wide to improve the health and productivity of their soils. Understanding soil health requires knowing what organisms occur, which ones are working, how many are present, and whether the soil food web is in the right balance for the desired plants. This  knowledge is essential if a sustainable, productive and low-input system is to be achieved.”

Elaine Ingham is the CEO of Soil FoodWeb with Merline Olson acting as her Australian Head Honcho.

Listen to Merline as she discusses the alliance between SFI and Farming Secrets and the shared vision these two organizations possess.
