A Sneak Peak at “True Soil Fertility - The New NPK” Part 2 of 7
www.farmingsecrets.com Farming Secrets Club member David Thomas tells why he is choosing to go down the track of pasture cropping. He has used lots of compost and has followed natural sequence practices to help retain more moisture in his soil.
Christine Jones says that your soil will retain the equivalent of an extra 2 buckets of water for every 1% increase in carbon in each 1 square metre of soil. Wow! I was bowled over by this information. She says if your soil is compacted and the water lays around or even if your soil is water logged and boggy, the soil will not retain the water. With the increase of carbon in your soil, the soil will become spongy and will absorb and hold more moisture. You will improve the water holding capacity of your soil while maintaining the soil structure.
